  • Heya, with Road to Berlin coming out soon I wanted to offer some help around the Wiki from Fandom's Wiki Manager & Content Teams. I'd like to go through & clear out maintenance reports such as Special:WantedCategories, convert the last two non-Portable Infoboxes to Portable versions, & expand the Mobile Main Page so that mobile readers can more easily navigate the site. Would you be ok with me doing all that?

I'll be your Wiki Manager here going forward, as I am in VTuber Wiki, so you can come to me for assistance if you need anything. Fandom Content Team may also stop by to offer some article-related help. Let me know what you think, cheers!

  • Hello,

Following your edits on Gertrud page, i would like to clarify something.

In the official books, the position of the witch in her squadron/wing is specified in the affiliation entry of her profile. So if a witch is the commanding officer of the squadron, it's specified there, independently of her rank (Flying Officers, Flight Lieutenants, Squadron Leaders, ect can be the commanding officer of the squadron). The other way arround, a witch can be a Squadron Leader without being the commander of her team in certain cases. The specific rank itself is in the rank entry, which is why i removed Squadron Leader from the affiliation entry after you added it (which was already in rank).

Since the infoboxes were made and filled in a way that replicates the characters' profiles in the books, it would be best to keep it that way. One of Gertrud affiliation entry is 第52戦闘航空団第2飛行隊司令, with shirei (commander) clearly stated. Removing it from her profile would be a loss of information. I suggest to put "Commander" back in her affiliation entry for these reasons, as well as for consistency since all the others witches infoboxes are filled that way.

  • Hello DerPresenz,

I recently became aware of the recent events regaurding the deletions of offical photos made by Fusilli Zaitsev: and I was wondering if we can hold a meeting with the other admin and mods to discuss things going forward and any actions to making an appeal against the delitionl given that the photos deleted don't appear to nominally violate the Fandom Terms of Service under prohibited content, in particular under poential peramiters of "obsene" or "porographic". In addtion, such photos and content are intended, as offical media; to be cataloged as fair use under educational pourposes on th wiki; so they should be protected and allowed on the wiki under those specific peramiters.

While personally I would recommend attempts at making a formal appeals process; I think it would be prudent to contact and involve the other wiki admin and mod staff.

Please mesage me back at your best conveniance so we can figure things out in regaurds to this incident.

    • Sure, it'll be better if the other staff from this wiki give their opinion.

Talked with Sam few hours ago, she said the reason pictures were deleted its because they were flagged by some retarded idiot who got offended. (yes, those were her words).

Shall we discuss the matter here or use Discord?

Sam, and Loskov don't use it, but I have direct contact with them, I can talk to them in person.

I suggest use a Discord group, for more privacy.

        Loading editor
    • Either or will be fine, but given that the flagging seems to be rather arbitrary and questionable without much firm reasoning, it would be prudent to submit an appeal, although wither communication can be through here or Discord I leave to your perogative.

Either method can work but it's up to you if you want to use one method, the other or both.

Although given the nature of the apparent report; the person who made the report seems to have made the report spurriouslly, which is in need of considerable appeal.

    • I have already voiced my own concerns on this matter on Discord earlier, but I just wanted to say that it makes me relieved to hear something will at least be discussed/done regarding this incident.

I would also like to say that only 1 out of those 4 images were "justified" for deletion... but even so, its still official material and its still technically safe enough. However, the other 3 images are not at all examples of something that should have been banned imo. If its true that the images had originally gotten flagged by someone, then I suppose that would make a lot more sense.

Thats about all I wanted to say openly, and I wish you all luck on getting this sorted out!

  • Some categories are not clear and have become redundant.

For example, the "Brave Witches" and the "502nd joint Fighter Wing" categories.
The "Brave Witches" category is for media and BW as a whole, while the "502nd joint Fighter Wing" category is for 502nd members and 502 squadron related pages, is that right?
As of now, they both have the media in them.

There is also the case of the "Strike Witches" category which is for witches using air strikers, not to be confused with Strike Witches media.

I'd suggest to specify what each of these categories is for in their respective pages so that they are more clear for contributors, and to clean the problematic categories.
    So the categories would be:
"Strike Witches media" (for media) and "501st joint Fighter Wing" (for members)
"Brave Witches" (for media) and "502nd joint Fighter Wing" (for members)
    "Strike Witches" and "Tank Witch"

Either that or merging the current redundant categories into one, but i think the first solution is better.

    What should be done?

    • I have another idea, create 5 categories for images.

Witches Gallery for images featuring witches.

Non-Witches Gallery for images featuring characters that are not witches.

Neuroi Gallery for images featuring neuroi.

Technology and Equipment Gallery for images featuring equipment and technology.

Flags and Insignias for flags and insignia.

The already existing categories would be for articles only.

    • If you want to add categories for images, then yes I feel your idea would be a much better approach at doing so.

  • Hello,
regarding Komura Sadae of the 508th JFW.
Her name is romanized "Kobayashi" in SWII Blu-Ray limited edition booklet 1.

After some research, it appears that 小村 can also be pronounced Kobayashi, although less commonly than Komura. Kobayashi is usually written 小林.
Do you think her romaji name should be corrected?

    N1K Kobayashi

  • Hi,
There are two broken links in the navigation bar that links to unexisting pages.
"THE MEDIA" button links to "World Witches Series", it should now link to "World Witches media".
Under "THE MEDIA", "Related Links" links to "World Witches Series Related Links", it should link to "World Witches Related Links".
    I can't fix them as I don't have permission to edit MediaWiki:Wiki-navigation.

  • Hello,
I've made modifications to the home page templates to take into account as much users complains and suggestions I could.
This keep being brought up and each part have been discussed thoroughly, resulting in this.
Please take a look and decide whether it can be kept or should be reverted.

Users still don't agree whit the protagonists part, but I don't know what to do with it so I left it as is for now.
They suggest to change "Protagonists" to something like "Noteworthy Witches" or "Notable Witches", and maybe change some of the witches, because most of the media focus on multiple witches at once.

    • I think the page looks really good the way it is now, so unless users keep complaining about the protagonists part I would leave it like this.

Not sure if I should put back Fernandia, because the layout would need to be changed to 3x3, it might be better or worse for the overvall look. I guess I'l try later in my sandbox.

    • In my opinion, if we want to focus on showing important protagonists then we probably shouldn't include every single "protag"... because if we did, that list would require like 10 or more Witches tbh (and counting, as protags often change and shift as Shio mentioned the other day).

So I feel that it should be narrowed down to a few specifications. Witches who have been protagonists within anime shows, protagonists within major series of light novels/mangas (not side stories or one-offs), and lastly... Witches who have had important impacts/roles throughout the series ontop of having been a protagonist at least once. With all this taken into account then it would, ideally, consist of... Miyafuji Yoshika, Sakamoto Mio, Karibuchi Hikari, Virginia Robertson, Anabuki Tomoko, Kuroda Kunika, & Katou Keiko for a total of 7.

This is how I personally feel but if someone else feels I missed someone who they deem important/worthy to be added then please give your input on it! But yeah, theres my answer.  :3

  • Hello, just wanted to make a quick observation that their is minor error to the world witches home page. The wiki into synopis should cite the setting as being The 2nd Neuroi War, and not WW2; as the setting, while being set in a 1940's era time period: is greatly and highly distnct and different from our WW2, with both differing and distinct cultures, history, social moors and other world build factors that sets it appart from WW2.

It just simply isn't the same war as WW2, and that's just besides the Witches and the Neuroi's presance themselves.

That being said; the new Homepage is a very interesting change in terms of layout and seems a bit better organized somewhat.

  • Hi, someone noticed the Article Showcase part of the Home page is't working.

The RandomQueue Lua module doesn't pick the contents of the World Witches Series:Featured articles page. Looking at the code, the page doesn't use the formatting needed (see line 4 and lines 7 to 10 in the code). I tried to format the page so that the code will get the content, i then get a script error at line 80 when the code try to use strings parsed from the featured pages. Sadly debbuging tools are almost inexistant and i can't do more without Lua knowledge.

Some other parts of the code are not adapted to this wiki either. For example, the function that get an image from the featured page search for "[file:image name]", but on this wiki images are just put with "image name".

If the code can't be fixed, i tried a simplier solution earlier. It just display the beginning of the featured page text with a "more..." button. Sadly it doens't look as good but it works.

  • If possible, i would like an infobox for anime pages and one for games pages to be added.

Here are the basic informations that they could contain, which i think are important to have on the pages:

    Anime infobox:

    Title
    Image
    Type
    Studio
    Aired
    Episodes

    Games infobox:

    Title
    Image
    Platform
    Editor
    Genre
    Release

    • Thanks for addind the infoboxes.

However, there is an issue. Some of the labels doesn't match with the source tags. When edditing a page, only the source tags can be used for filling the infobox. This makes the infoboxes incredibly hard to use, because for exemple, typing "|aired=12" displays "Episodes : 12" in the actual page. This also mean that the exemple code doesn't work because labels are used. Since the engine only use the source tags, the lines using labels are not recognized.

      Infobox problem

It's a code error, because I fixed it after I made them.

    • If you write this:

      {{Anime_Infobox
      |title1=アニメのインフォボックス
      |image1=World_Witches_Series_logo.png
      |caption1=キャプション
      |original_title=日本語タイトル
      |directed_by=監督
      |produced_by=プロデュース
      |written_by=作成者
      |music_by=音楽
      |studio(s)=スタジオ
      |production_company=制作会社
      |distributed_by=配布元
      |original_run=元の実行
      |episodes=エピソード
      |runtime=ランタイム
      }}

      It should appear like this:

      Same with this:

      {{Video_game_Infobox
      |title1=ビデオゲームのインフォボックス
      |image1=World_Witches_Series_logo.png
      |caption1=キャプション
      |original_title=日本語タイトル

      |platform(s)=プラットフォーム
      |release=リリース
      |genre(s)=ジャンル
      |mode(s)=モード
      }}
